Editorial Policy
iEmily
develops content with the guidance of physician experts in particular
fields of adolescent medicine, with advisory groups of teen girls,
and with experienced health and medical writers and editors. Our content
is written and edited with close attention to accuracy, appropriateness,
and accessibility to our audience. We have written guidelines for
writers, editors, and medical reviewers.
Our
Statement of Funding
iEmily is a private company created by Rina Spence, CEO, in 2000. Ms. Spence is a former junior high school teacher who went on to become a nationally recognized leader in health care administration. She has served as president and CEO of Emerson Hospital in Massachusetts. In 1994, she founded the widely acclaimed Spence Centers for Women's Health, a multi-site network of medical centers for women. She is a graduate of Boston University, where she received her BA and MEd degrees. She also holds an MPA from Harvard University.
The site currently has no external funding, but is in the process of researching responsible advertising and sponsorship options. We do not accept link or banner exchanges.
Our
Policy Regarding Health Information
iEmily
provides information to girls on health and wellness. We do not practice
medicine, give advice, or offer conclusive evaluations of a particular
girl's health. One of our services allows girls the ability to ask
questions anonymously of a health professional. The questions and
answers are posted publicly, and physicians are instructed in how
to answer questions in a general and not personal way. We also post
disclaimers at the point where a girl would post a question, just
to remind her that the physician cannot give her a diagnosis because
he or she has not examined her, and if she needs prompt medical attention
she should see a health professional in person.
Our
Policy Regarding Complaints
iEmily
invites comments and questions from our visitors, whether positive
or negative. We take feedback from visitors seriously and will answer
questions and resolve problems in a reasonable period of time. Contact
